Last Sunday, I thought to myself, "I really should go get a flu shot."
Monday morning I went to work and within two hours I was feverish, chilled and starting to ache. By the time I got home, leaving early even, I knew I had it. And it just kept getting worse as the day went on. I just could not get warm. No amount of clothing, blankets or Tylenol was cracking that fever. I had some juice and a little soup and barely managed to keep it down. I slept as much as I could.
At night fall, I was still shivering, lying on the couch like a lump, running to the bathroom every 20 minutes. In the morning, my fever had calmed down but my entire body felt like it had been through the wringer. I ached all day and then, just for good measure, my fever returned. I was a lump on the couch, sleeping through back to back episodes of Maury and Anderson Cooper.
Tonight I ate some solid food and it's staying inside me. For now. My stomach is making an argument for expulsion but I'm holding on.
Wish that I had thought of that flu shot earlier because this sucks big time. Seriously sucks.
