I think I was holding my breath without even realizing it. I didn't take a breath until I saw Alexander getting off the airport shuttle and walking towards me. No...that's not right. I don't think I actually took a breath until he was in my arms.
Yeah, that was it.
As I sit here typing this, he is sleeping off the jet lag.
The whole atmosphere here has changed. It's the same apartment with the same crappy furniture and the same dark rooms. Yet, it's changed. Because, at last, my heart is home.
And all is right with the world.

Homecoming revisited....
Arnie spent the day in hiding. He came out to eat and poop and then hid some more. I went out to a family dinner and night of cards and when I came home he was out. I sat down to watch the news and he jumped up on me and laid down on my shoulder as he always does and stayed there for about a half an hour. He jumped down to get a drink of water - a good sign since I have to make sure he keeps hydrated. He came back, jumped up and stayed there for another hour. Got down again, ate some more, came back and planted himself on me for most of the night. He's still snuffly and sneezing but all is right with the world.
Later, he spent a few minutes sneak attacking Brigette. My heart is very, very happy.
