After two days of all over general yuckiness known as "the flu" I have to admit that I am grateful the vomiting and other nastiness has ended but I can't shake this fatigue. I'm at work right now and quickly regretting my decision to try to get some work done. My boss, just back from two weeks relaxing in Canada, walked into my office and said "You look like shit!" How's that for a "good morning"? But he's right, I do. I have large dark circles under my eyes. I am pale and feel...well, yucky...again.
I'm going to try to tough it out until noon and then go home and sleep some more. Noon seems an awful long time off though...

Of Mucinex and new glasses...
So last week I finally lost the good fight staving off the germs of all the sickos at work. These people...I swear...ALWAYS come to work when they're sick and act like it's a badge of honor that they made it. I wish they would just stay home, get well and leave the germs out of the office. But they don't. So I got it. Double ear infections and a cold. But, I'm happy to say, I am on the mend and feeling much better after some antibiotics and Mucinex. I do not, however, want to see a bowl of chicken soup again for a long time.
I know that in the past I've stated that I love snow and I do, really, I do. I am somewhat over the awe and wonderment of winter though. It's been damned cold here and the days just drag ass on so, yes, stick a fork in it, I'm done. Winter takes too long. I know it's because I am living in anticipation to February and beyond when Alex and I can get the immigration train rolling. I hate waiting and waiting in the frigid cold just makes waiting all that much worse.
One good thing happened. I am getting new glasses. They look like this.

I haven't actually got them yet but they should be in next week. I was sick when I went to the eye doctor so I hope my choice wasn't clouded by my Mucinex/Biaxin cocktail!

And so it goes...
Today is Valentine's Day. I have a Valentine. I am a happy girl!
My flu is gone and I am left with the residual coughing and sometime fatigue but I am back at work for the first full day since last week. But, everyone else here is now sick and out so it's oh so quiet here...
We are not getting snow right now. I put that as a point of interest because it is the first time in a long time when we haven't gotten any snow. But, there is snow coming and it should be starting just at the evening rush hour. Goodie...
So, in my sicktime I've found that you can find a lot of interesting things on the internet. HA! Not that I didn't know this before but I think the combination of lack of sleep, Tylenol and Robitussin made me find interest in some very strange places. I spent a long time looking at cat pictures for instance. Now that I think of it, they weren't even all that interesting. I also spent a long time looking at recipes. I think that's because for the past week I couldn't actually taste anything so reading about good food made me feel better. Ah, memory/emotion is a wonderful thing! I also nearly completed knitting a scarf. I'm just learning how to knit so it's a big, chunky lopsided scarf but I'm proud of it and will wear it with conviction (if I ever figure out how to finish the end of it...) I also sent out a ton of useless email. So far, my friends and relatives know that my cartoon persona is Elmo, that my musical persona is Lead Singer, that they can help fight hunger by clicking a link on the HungerTaskForce page, and that they will have 5 bad things happen to them if they don't send all of this to at least 10 friends. I have bought and sold my friends over and over again on Facebook and poked everyone at least twice. I've changed my desktop image three times only to go back to the painting that I had there in the first place.
Yup, that pretty much sums up my time. Happy Valentine's Day!

10 Things I have learned from having the flu...
1. Nothing you eat once you've had a Halls Menthol-Eucalyptus cough drop will ever taste the same again no matter how long ago you had the cough drop.
2. When you can't taste anything, cottage cheese is just an experiment in texture.
3. No amount of lotion can make your nose feel any better after you've blown it 100, 000 times.
4. Flamin' Hot Cheetohs really do clear your sinuses.
5. Robitussin cough syrup makes everything that comes out of your body smell like Robitussin cough syrup.
6. Maury Povich is a dick.
7. There's a limit to the amount of daytime television any one person can take before completely losing their mind.
8. Cats don't like it when you blow in their face.
9. Regular coke is the only thing you can taste when you have the flu and, therefore, truly is the elixir of the gods.
10. Making homemade chicken soup seems like a good idea at the time but you don't realize how off your sense of taste is until a day or two later when it comes back and you realize that you have basically created a salt saturated congealed mess of noodles and too much garlic.
I went to work today for two hours. That's all I could handle. Turns out there is a mini-epidemic of this flu going on. Fifteen other people were out today and I sent two more home before I left for the day. Everyone keeps saying "You should have gotten a flu shot!" Well, guess what! I did! In October... sheesh.
I'm going back to bed now.

I have the flu...
Just out of the blue...I was fine one minute and sick as a dog the next. So, I am home from work again which isn't such a good thing. Last week, I was stuck at home because of the weather... all this time off just means work is piling up for me when I get back. I probably shouldn't be worried about that now what with this fever and cough I have.
Actually, even though I'm feeling run over and dragged out, I think I'll get some reading done. Always a good thing.
