The best husband ever!

Over the past few months, my husband has been sorting through a TON of old household crap that I have been meaning to get rid of forever. He spent days making sense of it and yesterday he spent hours hauling out to the curb for a scheduled curbside pick up. It took him several hours in the heat and humidity, up and down our stairs, bagging and rebagging and finally it was all out there.

He was a hot mess when he was done. Sweaty, smelly, dirty...and he never looked better. He is the best husband in the world! I wasn't able to help him carry out anything because I have a bad back so he did it alone and did it with a smile.

The funny part is that this morning when I left for work there was only about half of what he put out there left. People were coming and taking things as he was setting them out there. One time, he simply handed something to a guy that was standing there!

Anyway, I love this man more than I can say. He's always amazing me with what he does and I just wanted to let everyone know how great he really is!

Dreams...

I know that I am stressed when I start dreaming about work but occasionally the dreams are so strange and funny that it's almost worth it. Last night I dreamt that I was making a presentation to our agency's executive director. I showed up for this wearing an outfit that can only be described as something one might wear on the red carpet at the Academy Awards. I had with me as many visual aids as one could possibly think to have. I had a Power Point presentation, flow charts, hand outs, wall charts...you name it, I had it. The purpose of the presentation was to show the Big Cheese that since the unit I now currently supervise has grown to enormous porportions, it would make sense that a new position be created just for me. I was asking him to make me the Director of Long Term Care Management. During the course of this well orchestrated act I also wanted to let him know that since I would now be the Director they would have to consider who would replace me as Supervisor. I made an elaborate introduction and then "presented" my current assistant, Jamey, as the most likely candidate. As I said her name, the door to the conference room opened and Jamey entered decked out in her very best Oscar worthy ensemble. I think I even remember wearing a feather boa!

While the idea behind the presentation may make some sense, the sight of the two of us dressed up the way we were was quite spectacular and really funny! Especially since the office we work in is extremely casual. I don't recall either one of us ever wearing a dress to work and, most days, we are in capris or jeans and t-shirts. I almost wish we could record our dreams and play them back for other people to see. They would all get a kick out of this one!

On a separate note, it is hot here. Really hot. Before those of you from other traditionally hotter parts of the world start complaining just remember, I am from Wisconsin. We're not made for this weather! We spend the winter months making sure we have several comfy fat layers to insulate us from our god awful winters so when we hit July and August...well, let's just say, it ain't pretty. Generally, we are all red faced, tired from the humidity and on the cranky side. And if the heat lasts more than three consecutive days we start going outside with less and less clothing on...that's the ugly part. Haha!

Little annoyances...

I know, I know...life is too short to let these bother me but there are just some little annoying things happening today so I thought I'd vent. First, my brakes were squeaking this morning. Now, this shouldn't be a big deal except that I just paid $200 yesterday for new front brakes and rotors. So why the squeak? At this point, shouldn't I be pretty much squeak free?

Next, I have a document that I have to drop off at the court house. Again, not a big deal except that in order to do this simple task I will have to drive around and around and around (see previous post on this...) to get a place to park and then line up for 20 minutes to get through the security check point. Once I do, it will take me all of 5 minutes to drop off the document. Seems like an awful lot of work for a five minute drop.

Lastly, it has been in the upper 90s here for a week now with a dew point of 85 or so which means it's hot and sticky and icky. Getting from car to air conditioned office makes ya sweat like a farmhand. So, that right there is annoying BUT the truly annoying thing about this is that I work with several non-Polish (read that: skinny, no meat on their bones) women who have been walking around wearing sweaters, complaining that "it's cold in here" and asking the boss to adjust the AC. I hate these women. I know that hate is a strong word but, in this case, with my boiled brainage, I hate them.

So, as a bead of sweat drips slowly into my eye, I must go now to my car with the new yet squeaky brakes and drive a circle around the courthouse in what can only be seen as some kind of ritualistic mania and hope that I don't set off the metal detector at the courthouse door!
